Ex-AMAC chairman commits to APC, Tinubu’s victories in 2026, 2027
Renewed Hope Ambassador, Abdullahi Adamu Candido has reassured President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of total commitment from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) ahead of the 2026 Area Council elections and the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during the unveiling of the Renewed Hope Ambassador Project on Monday in Abuja, Candido said the political outlook in the FCT would be markedly different from the 2023 results, stressing that ongoing government interventions have strengthened public confidence.
Candido expressed optimism that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would secure all six Area Council seats in 2026 and deliver a convincing victory for President Tinubu in 2027.
The former AMAC chairman who was appointed as the Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Project in the FCT, said the mandate given to him is a renewed ambassadorial responsibility to coordinate activities.
He explained that the role focuses on creating awareness, sensitising FCT residents and electorates, and showcasing the achievements of the government over the past two and a half to three years.
He noted that President Ahmed Bola Tinubu, in his wisdom, appointed a minister who, in his view, has no equal in the administration of the FCT.
“You will all agree with me that so far, so good, this is the first time a minister is not only transforming the city but also reaching deep into rural communities,” he said.
According to him, residents of the FCT have every reason to appreciate the President and the Minister for their support and interventions across local communities, which he said account for the improved performance of the area councils.
Candido added that the ambassadorial assignment is the starting point for preparations ahead of the 2026 Area Council elections and the 2027 general elections.
“This job is for us to kick-start the process. Area council elections are around the corner, and this work links directly into 2027,” he stated.
He mentioned that the ALGON Chairman would unveil the vehicle allocated for the project, which he described as free for use by team members whenever needed.
He reassured President Tinubu of total commitment ahead of upcoming elections.
“The only message to Mr. President is to reassure him that there will be a change of narrative from what happened in 2023 to what will happen in 2027. Starting from 2026, by God’s grace, it will be six over six in the area council elections. And by 2027, there will be no issues of percentage — we will deliver a convincing lead. The President should relax and be assured that the FCT is fully committed,” he said.
Speaking, the FCT ALGON Chairman and Executive Chairman of Kwali Area Council, Danladi Bomboi, said, the new appointment strengthens their collective efforts, and the excitement seen on the faces of residents reflects the general satisfaction with the development.
