2027: Zulum, Borno APC endorse Tinubu, Shettima
The Borno State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), alongside Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, has endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima as the party’s candidates for the 2027 presidential election.
The endorsement was announced on Saturday at a stakeholders’ meeting held at the Government House, Maiduguri, where party leaders also signalled readiness to admit new members and defectors into the APC.
Speaking at the meeting, the APC Deputy National Chairman (North), Ali Bukar Dalori, said the decision was reached unanimously by stakeholders across the state.
“We have, without dissent, agreed to endorse President Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima for the 2027 presidential election. This reflects our confidence in their leadership and our commitment to the unity of the party,” Dalori said.
He described Borno as a stronghold of the APC and urged Nigerians to disregard unverified reports capable of creating confusion, particularly on social media.
In his remarks, Governor Zulum said leadership is divinely ordained, stressing that justice and fairness remain the bedrock of good governance.
“Allah gives power to whom He wills. For any leader to succeed, he must be just and committed to the welfare of his people,” the governor said.
Zulum maintained that his administration has upheld fairness in governance, assuring that all residents are treated equally, irrespective of ethnicity, religion or political affiliation.
“I have always ensured justice for all citizens, residents and political actors. Governance must be inclusive and equitable,” he added.
The governor called on party members and residents to shun divisive statements, envy, and hate speech, especially as the party prepares for its primaries ahead of future elections.
“It is God who gives power to whoever He wishes. We must remain united and focused,” he said.
Reaffirming his commitment to party cohesion, Zulum stressed that unity within the APC would be critical to its success in forthcoming elections.
“History will judge us by our service to humanity. I bear no grudge against anyone. Whoever emerges as our candidate must be supported to ensure the success of our great party,” he stated.
He further urged members to remain patient, show mutual respect, and work collectively in the overall interest of the party.
