FCT Projects: Tinubu Commissions Kabusa-Ketti Road, Promises More Projects

President Bola Tinubu on Friday commissioned the newly constructed Kabusa-Ketti Road in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The road, which stretches nearly 10 kilometers, was inaugurated by Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, who represented the President, Bola Tinubu at the event.

The Kabusa-Ketti Road is one of the infrastructure projects executed by the FCT Administration under the leadership of Minister Nyesom Wike, as part of ongoing efforts to improve connectivity, economic integration, and service delivery in rural and peri-urban communities of Abuja.

Delivering President Tinubu’s speech at the ceremony, Speaker Abbas stressed that the event was not merely a road commissioning but a clear reflection of the government’s commitment to impactful governance.

“Today’s event is not just a celebration of a new tarred road. It is a testament to what can be achieved when commitment to the people translates into tangible, lasting change,” Abbas said.

“This 10-kilometre stretch may appear modest in the eyes of some, but for the people of Kabusa, Ketti and the surrounding communities, it is truly transformational,” he said.

The Speaker highlighted the road’s strategic importance, noting that beyond easing mobility, it would significantly enhance trade, education, healthcare access, and the overall quality of life in the area.

“This vital infrastructure connects communities, unlocks economic potential, and affirms our administration’s commitment to equitable development across every corner of our nation,” he said.

He commended Minister Wike and the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) leadership for their dedication to delivering the project to specification and within schedule, adding that the road aligns with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which places people at the center of governance.

“Good governance is not theory, it is action reflected in the daily lives of the people,” he said.

Abbas also called on the local communities to take ownership of the project saying, “To the people of Ketti and Kabusa, this road is yours. I urge you to protect it, use it responsibly, and take ownership of its maintenance.

“The government will do its part, but community stewardship is essential for sustainability.”

Abbas further reaffirmed that more projects and investments would reach communities like Ketti and Kabusa.

“Let this road stand as a symbol of partnership, perseverance and the promise of a brighter future,” he added.

In his address, the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, thanked President Tinubu for his consistent support of FCT development initiatives.

He noted that the Kabusa-Ketti Road was among several infrastructure projects executed in the ongoing “Day 12 of Project Commissioning” across the capital city.

“Mr. President, on behalf of the Federal Capital Territory, again, thank you for Day 12 of commissioning projects initiated by the FCT Administration and supported by you,” Wike stated.

The Minister disclosed that the road was flagged off in December 2024 and praised the contractor for delivering the 9.8-kilometre project within the agreed timeframe.

“I have visited this site four or five times personally to monitor progress. The company gave us their word that this project would be completed in time for the commissioning, and they have kept their promise,” he said.

Wike commended the community’s cooperation, particularly the youths and traditional rulers of Ketti and Kabusa, for creating an enabling environment that facilitated speedy project completion.

“This is the first time the people of Ketti are getting direct government attention. And unlike in some other places where contractors face resistance, this community gave full support,” the Minister noted.

He who reiterated that the happiness of the people is the ultimate measure of good governance, said, “When people are happy, the government is happy. When the government delivers, the reflection is seen in the faces of the people.”
