FCT TInubu's Reform: Wike Exposes Revenue Surge: FCT Rakes in ₦700M in 3 Weeks from Tinubu Conference Center, Shocks Old Management with ₦50M Annual Remittance"
In a startling revelation that underscores the impact of administrative reforms in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has disclosed that the Tinubu Conference Center, now under the direct management of the FCT Administration, has generated over ₦700 million in just three weeks — a dramatic contrast to the measly ₦50 million annually previously remitted under the former private managers.
Wike made the disclosure on Sunday during a Thanksgiving Service held at St. James Anglican Church, Asokoro, to mark President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second year in office.
Addressing the congregation, Wike emphasized the significance of transparent governance and accountability in managing public infrastructure, stressing that the difference in revenue within such a short period was evidence of deep-rooted inefficiency or mismanagement under the previous handlers.
“In just three weeks since we took over the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Conference Center, we’ve generated over ₦700 million. Meanwhile, the former operators used to remit only ₦50 million in an entire year. This tells you everything you need to know,” Wike declared.
The Minister’s revelation sent shockwaves through observers, highlighting the potentially vast revenue leakage that had plagued public-private partnerships in the FCT and the urgency for reform across strategic assets.
The Bola Ahmed Tinubu Conference Center, which has become a symbol of national significance, was previously outsourced under a management structure now being questioned for its poor accountability and low returns to government coffers.
Wike further stressed that the current administration under President Tinubu is focused on plugging revenue loopholes, restoring confidence in public governance, and ensuring that the dividends of democracy translate into visible development for the people.
As the Thanksgiving service concluded with prayers for the President and the nation, many in attendance were left reflecting on the importance of efficient public resource management — and the cost of complacency in the past.
