2027: NURTW To Mobilise Members For Tinubu’s Re-Election

The National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Lagos State Chapter, has pledged to mobilise its members across the state in support of President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general election.

The pledge was made during a courtesy visit by the Union’s leadership, led by its Chairman, Adekunle Sego, to the Grassroots Movement for Tinubu (GMT) Secretariat.

During the visit, the NURTW Chairman and his delegation expressed their unwavering support for Tinubu, commending his commitment to policies and programmes that empower citizens, strengthen infrastructure, and stimulate economic growth across the nation.

The Union reaffirmed their readiness to work hand-in-hand with GMT to advance the Renewed Hope Agenda.

“During the visit, the NURTW Chairman and his delegation expressed their unwavering support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, commending his commitment to policies and programmes that empower citizens, strengthen infrastructure, and stimulate economic growth across the nation.

“The Union pledged to mobilise its vast membership base state-wide in support of the President’s re-election bid for the 2027 elections, reaffirming their readiness to work hand-in-hand with GMT to advance the Renewed Hope Agenda,” GMT said.

As preparations for the 2027 general elections gather momentum, political alignments and realignments are intensifying nationwide.

Tinubu, who contested under the All Progressives Congress (APC), won the 2023 presidential election with 8,794,726 votes, defeating Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP), who garnered 6,984,520 and 6,101,533 votes respectively.

Notably, Obi was Atiku’s running mate in the 2019 election. Amid growing coalition talks under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), speculation is mounting that the two may join forces on a single ticket. If realised, such an alliance could pose a formidable challenge to Tinubu’s re-election prospects.
