APC Hails Tinubu’s Economic Reforms, ‘Historic’ 411% Revenue Surge

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has hailed what it described as “record-breaking” revenue figures under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, following a 411 per cent increase in collections announced by the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).

In a statement issued on Thursday, the party said the figures unveiled by FIRS Executive Chairman Dr Zacch Adedeji demonstrated the success of the Tinubu administration’s economic reforms. According to the statement, the revenue rise cut across oil and non-oil collections, including VAT, customs receipts and direct remittances by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) into the Federation Account.

“These milestones reflect transparency, efficiency and accountability in public finance – values that have long eluded our fiscal system until now,” the statement read.

The Lagos APC said the reforms launched by President Tinubu were “strengthening Nigeria’s foundation for sustainable growth” and that the incoming tax regime due in January 2026 would widen the tax net without imposing new burdens on ordinary Nigerians.

It added that the revenue boom was “the product of purposeful leadership, sound policy direction and an uncompromising commitment to national renewal”

Taking a swipe at opposition parties, the statement claimed the results had “disproved predictions of collapse, chaos and hardship” and showed that Tinubu’s administration was “producing facts, figures and results that even the fiercest critic cannot deny”.

“The recent by-election victories nationwide were already a referendum on the Tinubu administration; today’s fiscal breakthroughs only serve as further proof that Nigeria is on the right path,” the party said.

The Lagos APC congratulated President Tinubu, Dr Adedeji and “all reform-minded patriots” driving the reforms, pledging its continued support for the administration.
