Islamic leaders call for unity, prayers for Tinubu’s success

Prominent Islamic cleric, Dr. Abdullahi Bala Lau, has urged Nigerians to earnestly pray for the success of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, stressing that peace and unity are critical for the country’s progress.

Dr. Lau, who is the West Africa President of Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa Iqamatus Sunnah, made the appeal on Saturday during a three-day conference organised by the Federation of Ahlus-Sunnah Organisations of Nigeria (FASON) in Ibadan.

The conference, themed “Our Faith, Our Future, Our Finance and Our Family,” brought together leading Muslim scholars and clerics from across the country, including the Chief Imam of Ibadanland, Sheik Abdulganiy Abubakar (represented), National Ameer of FASON Shaykh Tajudeen Abdul Kareem, Professor AbdulMojeed Alaro of the University of Abuja, Sheikh Hazim Atere, and Chief Saheed Oladele, the Baameko of Ibadanland.

In his address, Dr. Lau stressed that peace and harmony are the foundation for national development.

“Without peace, tranquility, and harmony, no progress can take place,” he said. “As major stakeholders in this country, we must pray fervently for our dear President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to succeed and become a just leader.”
Shaykh Tajudeen Abdul Kareem, the National Ameer of FASON, said the primary objective of the conference was to promote peaceful coexistence among Nigeria’s diverse ethnic and religious groups.

“Nigeria must remain one. Yoruba, Hausa, and Igbo — we must continue to live together without crisis. We are one people,” he stated.

Professor AbdulMojeed Alaro, an Islamic law scholar at the University of Ilorin, called on parents to instill discipline and faith in their children, describing the family as “the nucleus of society.”

He added that financial independence was crucial to building a secure future for Nigeria.

The conference provided a platform for Muslim clerics and leaders to reaffirm their commitment to national unity, faith, and social responsibility, while emphasizing the need for spiritual and moral support in achieving Nigeria’s development goals.
