APC will take over Abia in 2027 with people’s mandate – Deputy Speaker Kalu
The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Okezie Kalu, has declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is determined to take over the governance of Abia State in 2027, assuring that the victory will come through the people’s votes, not the use of federal power.
Kalu made the declaration on Sunday while addressing a large gathering of APC supporters and members of the Renewed Hope Partners (RHP) drawn from the 17 local government areas of the state in Umuahia, the state capital.
He thanked Abia residents for their continued support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, stressing that the state stands to gain more by aligning with the federal government’s development agenda.
The Deputy Speaker urged eligible voters to participate in the ongoing continuous voter registration exercise to ensure they are ready for the 2027 general elections.
“We have come to take over, and there is no going back. We want to work with the President to move our state forward. The APC will take over Abia with the people’s mandate — through your votes, not by force,” Kalu said.
He commended President Tinubu for releasing funds to states following the removal of the fuel subsidy, describing him as a “miracle maker” whose reforms have strengthened state finances.
Kalu, however, urged Governor Alex Otti to ensure that the increased federal allocations translate into visible infrastructure and development projects across Abia.
He also encouraged students and traders to take advantage of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) and the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CREDICORP) to support their education and businesses.
