2027: Our only goal is to re-elect Tinubu, Mbah – Enugu APC

Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Enugu state chapter of the All progressives Congress (APC), has declared that it was highly committed to ensuring that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu won Enugu state overwhelmingly and Governor Peter Mbah re- elected for a second term.

Chairman of the seven-man Caretaker Committee of the party in the state, Dr. Ben Nwoye, stated this while inaugurating the Isi -Uzo local local government and ward caretaker executives at Ikem, headquarters of the council area.

Nwoye, who led other members of the committee, which had former Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Barrister Eugene Odo, as Secretary and ex-Minister of Aviation Mrs. Fidelia Njeze as member, disclosed that the interim state Exco would be visiting the entire 17 local government areas and 260 political wards in the state to inaugurate their Caretaker Committee excos.

The LGA and ward executive positions became vacant following the recent dissolution of the Chief Ugochukwu Agballa, led (Exco) by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party on October 9, 2025, citing greater unity and effectiveness.

Addressing the Isi-Uzo new Caretaker Committee executives shortly after the Secretary, Barrister Odo administered oath of office and allegiance on them, Nwoye harped on the need for the grassroots’ leaders to see APC in their locality as a one big united political family, adding that “you must a carry every one along in all you do.”

He told the LGA party officials that the task ahead was to ensure that President Tinubu won the state overwhelmingly, and the state governor Dr. Mbah was re elected in 2027.

He urged them to always make peace and unity their watchwords. “And you must embark on robust mobilisation of the electorate when the time comes,” he said.

According to the Chairman, the decision of Governor Mbah to pitch tent with the Nigeria’s ruling party remained a wise and bold step, as it had linked the state to the national political grid.

In a brief speech, Governor Peter Mbah, who addressed the Isi Uzo party officials through his Special Adviser on political matters, Chief Frank Anioma, expressed satisfaction with the existing peace in the area, amongst party members.

He said if sustained, APC might not stress itself coming to campaign in the LGA ahead in 2027 elections.

Throwing more light on why he decided to join the ruling APC, Mbah likened his decision to a case of someone traveling, and getting to the middle of his journey, the vehicle conveying the passengers  developed serious fault which was beyond repair, posting that as one desirous of getting to his expected destination, the only option left was to board another vehicle  to continue the journey.

He added that the vehicle  conveying them was the PDP,  but through the APC, they are sure of getting to their expected destination.

The Committee scribe, Barrister. Odo, in his remark, urged the new LGA Executives to start seeing themselves as APC political evangelizers, that would mobilize voters for the party in every nook and cranny of the locality at the appropriate time, stressing that the choice of Isi -Uzo for the inauguration kick off wasn’t accidental, but because of its political relevance.

Responding after receiving the APC flag and other party symbols from Nwoye, as leader of the party in Isi Uzo council area, the Chairman, Barrister Obiora Obeagu, assured the state leadership of their readiness to deliver over 100 percent votes to President Tinubu and Governor Mbah, come 2027.
