No more roll-over of budget from March 2026 – Tinubu

Tinubu made this known on Friday during the presentation of the 2026 Appropriation bill to the joint session of the National Assembly.

The president acknowledged that operating multiple budgets in a single year is a problem and pledge that his administration will terminate the operation of multiple budgets soon.

He assured that all existing budgets running concurrently will be concluded by March 2026.

Tinubu had arrived the National Assembly premises amid high security.

Tinubu gained entrance into the House of Representatives chamber at exactly 2:59pm.

The President arrived the National Assembly after earlier presenting the 2026 appropriation budget to the Federal Executive council.

The FEC had earlier approved a ₦58.47 trillion 2026 Appropriation Bill and an amendment to the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF), clearing the way for President Bola Tinubu to transmit the budget to the National Assembly.

The Senate had earlier on Tuesday approved the MTEF document while the House of Representatives approved theirs on Thursday.

Also present for the budget presentation are Kashim Shettima, the Vice President; Femi Gbajamiabaila, Chief of Staff, George Akume, the Secretary General of the Federation, governors and others.
