No Regrets Backing Tinubu Since 2022 — Wike
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has declared that he has no regrets for openly supporting President Bola Tinubu since 2022, insisting that his political stance was rooted in equity, fairness and justice.
Wike spoke on Saturday at a special event held at his Abuja residence to mark his 58th birthday anniversary.
The former Rivers State governor emphasised that his position remained consistent before, during and after the 2023 presidential election, stressing that he never concealed his support for Tinubu.
He stressed that his political decisions were guided by character and integrity, noting that he was the only prominent figure within the main opposition party at the time who openly declared support for Tinubu ahead of the election.
According to Wike, his decision was also driven by the conviction that power should shift to the South.
“My leadership capacity was demonstrated in Rivers during the elections, where the All Progressives Congress (APC) won the presidential poll.
“Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secured victories in the National Assembly, governorship, State House of Assembly and local government elections under my watch,” he said.
Wike thanked his political family and associates for standing firmly by him over the years, acknowledging their role in shaping his leadership journey.
He said he remained fulfilled working with them and pledged to continue collaborating closely with them in the interest of Rivers State and Nigeria at large.
The minister added that criticism and abuses did not bother him, describing them as part of the challenges that motivated him.
