2027: Benue will deliver one million votes for Tinubu, says Agbese
A member of the House of Representatives and spokesperson of the Benue State All Progressives Congress (APC) National Assembly Caucus, Philip Agbese, has said Benue State will deliver no fewer than one million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
Agbese, who represents Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo Federal Constituency, said the projection is anchored on the party’s ongoing e-registration and revalidation exercise, which he described as a game-changer for the ruling party in the state.
Speaking to journalists in Makurdi after inspecting registration materials, the lawmaker said the caucus is working in close coordination with the political structure led by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, to mobilise verified party members across Benue.
According to him, the Akume-led bloc alone has over 500,000 verified APC members ready to be captured in the party’s digital register within days, a development he said would significantly boost the party’s strength ahead of the 2027 polls.
He said, “We are coming with serious business. The Akume group has more than half a million verified members awaiting upload in this exercise. Within the next seven days, all of them will be captured. That will immediately increase APC membership in Benue by at least 500,000.”
He expressed confidence that the expanded membership base would translate into massive electoral support for President Tinubu, insisting that the one-million-vote target was realistic.
“Let me be clear: we are serious about delivering an additional one million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu from Benue State in 2027. Our structures are solid, and the response from the grassroots has been overwhelming,” he added.
Agbese contrasted the APC’s mobilisation efforts with what he described as weak registration figures from opposition parties, arguing that the ongoing exercise has exposed the party’s dominance at the grassroots.
He urged APC members across the state to cooperate fully with party officials at the local government level to ensure the success of the exercise, warning that internal divisions could undermine the party’s chances.
The lawmaker said, “After one month, others can only point to about 30,000 registrations. Our people are on the ground and fully engaged. This e-registration exercise is allowing us to reclaim and strengthen the party from the roots.
“This is not the time for disunity or half-hearted commitment. With the political structure Senator Akume has built and the level of enthusiasm we are seeing, APC in Benue is on course to become a dominant force again.”
Reaffirming his support for President Tinubu, the lawmaker said the Benue APC NASS Caucus would work to ensure that popular confidence in the President’s leadership is reflected at the polls.
“The people trust President Tinubu’s leadership, and we will make sure that trust translates into massive votes in 2027,” he added.
