2027: My priority is success of Tinubu, APC — Senator

Chairman of the Senate Committee on Services, Senator Sunday Karimi, representing Kogi West, has said that his priority is the success of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC), as he continues to build solid structures and rally support for the President’s re-election in 2027.

He made this known while engaging members of his constituency from across the seven local councils in the senatorial district, comprising Yagba West, Yagba East, Ijumu, Kabba-Bunu, Mopa-Muro, Kogi, and Lokoja Local Government Areas.

He noted that he is not in any political tussle with anyone in the state and called on all critical stakeholders to unite and work together towards Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

Constituents, who turned out in large numbers at his country home in Egbe, Yagba West Local Council, declared their unalloyed support for his return to the Senate as well as the President’s re-election.

While prioritising and harmonising the demands of the people, the Senator urged them to return to their various communities and drum up support for President Tinubu.

Karimi further engaged with his constituents, listening to their concerns and suggestions on effective representation. He urged them to continue supporting the President, commending his “tireless” efforts toward ensuring the country’s progress and the security of its citizens despite prevailing insecurity challenges. He alleged that the escalating insecurity was aimed at undermining the administration.

The lawmaker encouraged his constituents not to lose hope, assuring them that their challenges are being discussed at the National Assembly with a view to finding swift solutions.

He also briefed them on the outcome of his meeting with the Brigade Commander in Lokoja on Wednesday concerning the prevalent insecurity in Kogi West. As a result of the meeting, he disclosed that troops will be deployed to Olle-Bunu, Jege, Odo-Ere, Idofin, and Isanlu communities to further ensure the safety of the people.

When asked about the delay in the reconstruction of the deplorable Kabba–Egbe road, Karimi explained that the Federal Ministry of Works is awaiting approval from the Bureau of Public Procurement before commencing the project. He stated that he has personally contributed N3 billion — N2 billion from his constituency allowance and an additional N1 billion — to support the project and expedite its completion.

He also pledged to continue lobbying for initiatives that would promote development and progress across the entire region.
