2027: Oborevwori tasks APC on massive votes for Tinubu

Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has charged members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state to deliver overwhelming support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all other elective offices in the 2027 general elections, declaring that the party’s electoral performance would determine its strength and capacity to attract federal presence and benefits.

The governor issued the directive on Friday while addressing APC stakeholders at a high-level meeting at Government House, Asaba, which focused on party unity, electronic registration, grassroots mobilisation and readiness ahead of forthcoming party congresses.

Oborevwori told party leaders that political relevance at the national level is tied to performance at the polls, stressing that the volume of votes delivered by the Delta APC would shape its bargaining power within the ruling party and at the centre.

He emphasised that leadership legitimacy derives from the people and must be anchored in humility, empathy and service, urging stakeholders to subordinate personal ambitions to the collective interest.

The governor cautioned against internal divisions and avoidable conflicts, insisting that unity remains the APC’s greatest asset as it prepares for key political milestones.

According to him, meetings of this nature provide opportunities to assess progress, reinforce party structures and align strategies ahead of congresses. He added that effective mobilisation, registration and participation would ultimately determine electoral outcomes.

Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Chief Festus Keyamo, SAN, called on members to remain focused as the party approaches its congresses, commending progress in the ongoing e-registration exercise and the growing diversity within the party.

He warned against rumours and unnecessary delays, advocating early engagement, dialogue and consensus-building at the ward and local government levels to minimise tension.

Immediate past Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, thanked Governor Oborevwori for convening the meeting, calling his visit to the Government House after many years a strong signal of inclusiveness.

He pledged to work with the governor and other stakeholders to strengthen the APC in Delta State.

National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Mr. Felix Morka, praised the governor’s leadership style and the digitalisation of the party’s membership register, and recommended a consensus-driven approach for the forthcoming congresses to consolidate unity.

In his welcome address, the State APC Chairman, Elder Omeni Sobotie, said the party had recorded over 90 per cent realignment since April 2025, calling the stakeholders’ meeting clear evidence of growing unity, renewed momentum and readiness for the 2027 electoral contest.
