Adelabu to SERAP: Missing N128bn Predate Tinubu Administration

Nigeria’s Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, says the missing N128 billon allegedly diverted by the Ministry and the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading PLC, NBET did not happen under the current administration.

This is in response to a petition by non governmental body, SERAP, that the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi, investigates the alleged missing fund.

While he does not hold any objection to calls for investigation, Mr. Adelabu insists the report upon which SERAP based its petition was an audit query on the 2022 financial year, which he said predates the Tinubu’s administration.

The Minister reaffirms commitment to transparency and accountability as he promises full cooperation with any legitimate process targeted at addressing legacy issues in the power sector.

Mr. Adelabu maintains that the government remains focused on delivering stable and reliable electricity to all Nigerians.
