Nigeria steadily recovering under Tinubu, says Gbenga Daniel

Senator Gbenga Daniel (APC-Ogun East) has commended President Bola Tinubu’s security initiatives in the country, saying the worst is over.

Mr Daniel spoke with journalists in Sagamu on Sunday on the sidelines of his 21st annual thanksgiving service at Abraham’s Tabernacle Church.

He said the federal government had, in recent times, made visible efforts to address insecurity across the country through different approaches, all of which had yielded results.

The senator said that despite some challenges facing the country, Nigerians should remain hopeful and thankful. He expressed optimism that the new year will be memorable in the country’s history.

The former Ogun governor also noted that there were indications that inflation, which had hitherto risen sharply, was beginning to ease.

“We must thank God Almighty for His preservation. We must also thank the president and Commander-in-Chief for providing the enabling environment and the time to move the nation forward,” he said.

On criticisms often directed at politicians, Mr Daniel said he had maintained integrity throughout his years in public service.

He said he had held public offices and interacted with Nigerians for over 23 years, noting that he became a governor in 2003 and had remained in public life since then.

“If in all these years no one has been able to point to a single lie I told or a statement that turned out to be false, then Nigerians should know how to judge me,” he said.

The senator reiterated his belief that Nigeria’s situation would continue to improve, insisting that the worst was over.

He cited the large turnout of worshippers at the event who gathered voluntarily to pray for the country as a sign of growing hope and progress.

”In this country, gradually, things are getting better. I have no doubt in my mind that this year, things will turn around for the better in Nigeria,” he said.

Gignitaries at the Thanksgiving service included a popular business mogul and elder statesman, Kensington Adebutu, the wife of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Bola Obasanjo, and Tokunbo Awolowo-Dosumu.

Others were the former deputy governor of Lagos State, Femi Pedro, clergymen, and traditional rulers.
