Pro-Tinubu group unveils NAFT.27 ahead of 2027 election

A group of eminent Nigerians has unveiled the National Agenda for Tinubu 2027 (NAFT.27), positioning the initiative as a policy advocacy and public enlightenment platform focused on consolidating reforms introduced by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration ahead of the next electoral cycle.

According to a statement signed by the National Convener, The National Agenda For Tinubu 2027, Dr Aliyu Ibrahim, the unveiling, held in Abuja on January 18, 2026, brought together representatives drawn from the six geopolitical zones, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and the Diaspora.

The group said NAFT.27 would operate as a broad-based, non-ethnic and non-religious movement aimed at deepening public understanding of the Renewed Hope Agenda and mobilising support for continuity of governance.

Speaking to journalists after the event, the National Convener, Dr Ibrahim, said the initiative was designed to place policy outcomes at the centre of political engagement rather than personalities. He said the organisation would focus on “managing the verifiable gains of the electoral successes of President Tinubu’s 32 months in office, evidenced by the democratic scorecard of the Renewed Hope Agenda”.

Dr Ibrahim said NAFT.27 would serve as a national enlightenment and solidarity platform to explain ongoing reforms, strengthen grassroots engagement and counter what he described as misinformation around government policies.

According to him, “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, must be scored high, given the plethora of challenges he inherited in 2023”.

He described NAFT.27 as “a move towards building new pathways of understanding the role of elected representatives in managing the gains of their electoral successes”, adding that the group aimed to address long-standing scepticism among voters about leadership and governance. In his words, the initiative seeks to “remove the animated stereotypes and negative social labelling that the voting electorate had held over decades about leadership and political leadership figures”.

The group said it would embark on guided tours across the six geopolitical zones before the next round of elections to benchmark the administrative performance of elected officials, beginning with the scorecard of President Tinubu, followed by state governors and local government chairmen elected under the All Progressives Congress. Dr Ibrahim said the exercise would be evidence-based and focused on policy delivery rather than political rhetoric.

NAFT.27 noted that it was first introduced to the public in May 2025 at a reception in Abuja held in honour of the former national chairman of the APC, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, who serves as the group’s Grand Patron. The organisation said the event provided background on its objectives within the context of the Tinubu presidency.

The group argued that Nigeria had reached a stage where policy consistency and reform consolidation were more critical than what it termed “political resets”. It said many ongoing reforms required time, stability and public understanding to deliver their full benefits, which it described as “positive returns on electoral investments”.

Reaffirming confidence in the Tinubu–Shettima administration, NAFT.27 said the joint ticket had addressed entrenched narratives that previously fuelled ethnic, religious and cultural tensions. It maintained that abandoning reforms midway would undermine efforts to address social challenges, including what it called the twin issues of “rural poverty and urban misery”.

According to the group, “the sociological concept of the ‘Renewed Hope’ is a journey, not an event”, adding that its role was to ensure that Nigeria “does not abandon the road halfway”. It appealed to citizens, particularly young people, to be patient as the effects of government policies aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda unfold.

Dr Ibrahim described NAFT.27 as a civil initiative committed to policy explanation, national unity and sustained engagement around the administration’s development goals as the country moves towards the latter phase of the current government.
