Tinubu not driving Nigeria towards one-party state, says Magnus Abe

Senator Magnus Abe, has dismissed claims that Nigeria is drifting toward a one-party state, urging Nigerians to comply with the new tax reform law.

Abe stated that the mass defections of millions of Nigerians to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) do not signal a move toward one-party rule, as some opposition parties have suggested.

“Nigeria is not becoming a one-party state. Rather, in Tinubu, Nigerians have simply found a leader they can trust,” Abe said in a statement on Tuesday.

He also expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing him as Chairman of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), describing the role as a unique opportunity to contribute to the country’s ongoing economic transformation.

Abe noted that the appointment underscores Tinubu’s ability to attract followers through genuine loyalty and merit. “My appointment demonstrates once again the President’s unique qualities that make him a master of the game. This is why thousands of people like me have followed him over the years, and millions more are still following. Thank you, Mr. President. You are a father who rewards loyalty and promotes competence. I will never stop following you,” he added.

Highlighting political achievements in Rivers State, Abe described FCT Minister Nyesom Wike as the “‘001’ of the Tinubu political family in Rivers State,” praising him for delivering the state to Tinubu and the APC during the country’s most challenging elections. He noted that Wike’s support has been pivotal to the success of the Tinubu-led “Renewed Hope Family” coalition.

Abe urged Nigerians to disregard critics, comply with the tax reform, and support the government’s reform agenda, adding: “Better days are coming for our country. Today, the President is doing things differently, and the numbers are beginning to show that Nigeria is on the right course.”
