Tinubu taking Nigeria through right path — APC chieftain

A chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Otunba Biodun Ajiboye, has said that President Bola Tinubu is taking critical decisions to set Nigeria on the path of recovery after what he referred to as wrong decisions taken by previous administrations.

Ajiboye, who is also the Executive Secretary/Managing Director of the National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO), made the remarks while featuring on Politics Today on Channels TV monitored by Tribune Online on Monday in Abuja.

According to him, the period the country is passing through is a result of misteps of past governments who mortgaged the future of the country through their unpopular and selfish decisions.

He said since taking over the mantle of leadership in 2023, the President has done well in the areas of security, agriculture and tackled a lot of other issues which previous governments shied away from.

Ajiboye said the APC government led by President Tinubu has reduced the unemployment rate, which hitherto was at more than 35%, to around 15%.

He added thatthe government has made payment of workers’ salaries a priority, saying state governments no longer borrow to pay salaries but rather earn more through monthly allocation.

“A country that has been using 97% of its revenue to service debt will come to a problem at some point. The consequence has come, and here is a man who is tackling the problem fundamentally. This period is a result ofthe consequences of the past. The unemployment rate has dropped from 35% to around 15%.

“There is no more delay in payment of workers’ salaries. States government no longer borrow. President Bola Tinubu is doing a lot to tackle the security challenges the country is going through. He is being truthful and honest with Nigerians and has taken the bull by the horns. Two years is not enough to fix Nigeria. Some Nigerians are actually the problem of Nigeria. No two government is same. Buhari was forthright, but those around him were not sincere.

“It is time for state and local governments to complement the Federal Government’s efforts as they now get more allocation. We are in a good position to tell Nigerians what we’ve done. We’ll be telling them how we save the future of Nigeria from collapsing. Nigeria’s problem did not start today.

“Subsidy took a lot of our revenue. 70% of our revenue was being used to finance subsidy. The earnings of 2025 are the only substantial revenue that we got in the last 10 years,” Ajiboye said.

He said Tinubu’s second term tenure is assured, saying the likes of David Mark, Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Rauf Aregbesola, Rotimi Amaechi, and Nasir El-Rufai are a bunch of bitter and disgruntled politicians who have nothing to offer but whose stock in trade is to discredit anything the Tinubu government does.

Tinubu grants automatic employment to children of late FCT Head of ServiceGrace Adayilo

President Bola Tinubu has approved automatic employment for the four children of the late Head of the Civil Service of the Federal Capital Territory FCT, Dr Grace Adayilo who recently passed on. FCT minister, Nyesom Wike, announced this on Saturday during the funeral service held at the National Ecumenical Centre, Abuja, where top government officials, civil servants, family and friends gathered to pay their last respects to the late Adayilo.
