Tinubu’s govt won’t abandon Nigerians, says Shettima
Vice President Kashim Shettima on Friday commissioned the Tudun Biri Resettlement Scheme in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State, reaffirming President Bola Tinubu’s pledge that the Nigerian state will not abandon its citizens in times of adversity.
The project, delivered nearly two years after a military drone misfire devastated the community, features 133 housing units, a school and other modern infrastructure, providing a new start for families displaced by the incident.
Shettima said the scheme reflects the Tinubu administration’s people-centred approach to governance, stressing that leadership must prioritise compassion, justice and the restoration of dignity.
“This resettlement scheme is more than infrastructure; it is a statement of responsibility and empathy,” the Vice President said. “It is a practical assurance that the Nigerian state stands by its people and will not leave communities broken by misfortune.”
He noted that the project was executed under the Resettlement Scheme for Persons Impacted by Conflict (RSPIC), adding that similar recovery and resettlement efforts are ongoing in several states across the country.
According to him, the initiative demonstrates the Federal Government’s resolve to respond decisively to humanitarian crises, rebuild livelihoods and create the conditions for lasting peace.
Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani commended President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima for their compassion and leadership, describing the project as proof that the dignity of citizens remains central to governance.
Also speaking, the Director-General of the National Emergency Management Agency, Zubaida Umar, said the intervention aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda, which places people-focused recovery and inclusive development at the heart of national policy.
She explained that while 143 housing units were originally planned, 10 were converted into a school to meet the educational needs of children in the settlement, resulting in 133 completed homes.
Speaking on behalf of beneficiaries, community representatives thanked President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima for restoring hope and stability to Tudun Biri and other communities affected by humanitarian crises nationwide.
