Wike is 001 of Tinubu’s political family in Rivers’, Abe taunts Fubara

Former senator representing Rivers South-East, Magnus Abe, has described the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, as the “001 of President Bola Tinubu’s political family in Rivers State,” insisting that no one can claim loyalty to the President while confronting the FCT minister politically.

Abe made the remark while thanking President Tinubu for appointing him Chairman of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, a statement widely interpreted as a veiled jab at Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, amid the ongoing political crisis in the state.

In a statement posted on his Facebook page on Tuesday, Abe credited Wike with delivering Rivers State to Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2023 general elections, describing the feat as unprecedented.

“No one can claim to love Mr President and be ungrateful to our ‘Mr Project,’ whose support at a critical point was pivotal to our success,” Abe said.

He described Tinubu as a leader who rewards loyalty and competence, declaring his unwavering allegiance to the President, while also expressing deep gratitude to Wike, whom he referred to as “our Nyerishi.”

Abe urged Nigerians to support Tinubu’s reform agenda, saying the administration is doing things differently and that early indicators show the country is on the right path.

A long-time political actor in Rivers, Abe has increasingly aligned with Wike since the 2023 elections, even as tensions between the FCT minister and Governor Fubara continue to deepen.
