2027: APC legislative aides back Tinubu’s re-election

Legislative aides of the National Assembly appointed on the platform of the All Progressives Congress on Wednesday declared support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027, pledging nationwide voter mobilisation in his favour.

The endorsement was announced by the National Coordinator of the group, Ayoola Fakunle, during the inauguration of the National Assembly Legislative Aides into the APC Support Groups Council in Abuja.

The declaration comes amid early political alignments ahead of the 2027 general elections, with the ruling party intensifying grassroots mobilisation through affiliated support groups.

Speaking at the event, Fakunle described legislative aides as a strategic political structure spread across federal, state and local government levels.

“We have legislative aides at the National Assembly, State Assembly and local government. We are equally represented in every polling unit,” she said.

According to her, membership of the group requires proof of Permanent Voter Card ownership and APC membership.

“The purpose is to ensure that we support the re-election of President Bola Tinubu, a former senator and our principal. We are going all out for him to ensure we secure another four years. We also will back our principals in their various states and local governments,” Fakunle added.

President Tinubu, who won the 2023 presidential election on the APC platform, has yet to formally declare his intention to seek a second term. However, support groups within the party have continued to organise in anticipation of a re-election bid.

Also speaking, the Director-General of the APC Support Groups Council, Sadiq Jikta, described the induction of the legislative aides as a strategic boost to the party’s mobilisation drive.

“Today’s inauguration of legislative aides is an added advantage to the APC. We need more members and groups like this. It shows we are prepared for 2027,” he said.

Jikta added that the party would roll out a series of mobilisation activities as preparations for the next electoral cycle intensify.

The event reflects the growing tempo of political activities within the ruling party as attention gradually shifts to the 2027 elections.

President Bola Tinubu has approved automatic employment for the four children of the late Head of the Civil Service of the Federal Capital Territory FCT, Dr Grace Adayilo who recently passed on.
