2027: Group begins nationwide tour for Tinubu’s re-election

The Southern Coalition for Tinubu 2027 has commenced a nationwide tour to mobilise support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu.

The leadership of the group met in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Tuesday to flag off its sensitisation tour across the Southwest.

National Coordinator of the coalition, Pastor Bassey James, said in a statement that similar visits would be undertaken in major state capitals across the South.

The statement, jointly signed by Prof. Justus Sokefun, Dr Sayid Adamu and Professor Ebere Okorie, commended what it described as the unity of purpose among supporters of the Tinubu administration.

According to the coalition, the primary objective of the tour is to highlight the achievements of President Tinubu and make a case for his re-election in 2027.

“It is important that we engage our people directly and inform them of our plans to build a united front ahead of 2027,” the statement read.

“We want President Tinubu to return and complete the projects he has initiated in the interest of national development.

“These achievements must be sustained, and we urge the South to speak with one voice.”

The group maintained that the administration had recorded progress in critical sectors of the economy and infrastructure, citing improvements in macroeconomic stability and investor confidence.

“It is evident that the country is witnessing transformations in key sectors, consistent with assessments that the economy is on the right trajectory,” the statement added.

The coalition further stated that exchange rate stability, renewed foreign investor interest, and efforts towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals were indicators of progress under the current administration.

It also referenced increased investment in the education sector and the implementation of the Nigerian Student Loan Scheme, which it said was enabling students to return to school.

The group announced plans to appoint Southern Coalition Ambassadors across trade unions and professional associations in the region. The ambassadors, it said, would serve as Tinubu ambassadors, with the initiative to be extended nationwide.

Pastor James added that the coalition would identify grassroots mobilisers in state capitals to distribute campaign materials, including magazines and fliers, while engaging professionals, academics and young people to broaden its support base.
