2027: JIBWIS chairman reaffirms support for Tinubu/Shettima ticket

The national chairman, Council of Ulama Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa’ikatis Sunnah (JIBWIS), Sheikh Sani Yahaya Jingir, has reiterated his call and support for Tinubu/Shittema joint ticket in the forthcoming 2027 general elections.

Sheikh Jingir said Monday that any change in the joint ticket by Tinubu will cost him clerics’ support.

He made the statement at the closing of the JIBWIS 33rd annual national seminar, held Sunday at Saddeqa event center, Jos.

“We are not people who break promises. On Election Day, we voted for a Muslim–Muslim ticket. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, we chose you for the sake of Allah; we made promise to Allah,  and  we voted for you. Do not put pepper in our eyes. If you do, Allah is our strength,” Sheikh Jingir said.

He added that Tinubu and Shettima are servants of Allah and they are human beings, and as humans, “we did not choose people who are free from mistakes.”

Sheikh Jingir said he is sure Tinubu will not betray them, adding that the president and his vice have cordial working relationship.

“Have you ever heard of a situation where President Tinubu came out to insult Shettima or tarnish his name? The president loves his deputy. Do you have even one instance where Shettima criticised President Tinubu?,” he asked.

Sheikh Jingir prayed that the government under the Muslim–Muslim ticket will succeed again.
