2027: Yilwatda, Masari rally APC ahead of convention, pledge credible exercise

Chairman of the National Central Coordinating Committee for the 2026 National Convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Aminu Bello Masari, has pledged that the programme would be peaceful, credible and transparent.

He gave the assurance yesterday during the inauguration of the Convention Planning Committee at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.

Masari thanked the party leadership and President Bola Tinubu for the confidence reposed in members of the committee.

The former Katsina State governor said the committee accepted the responsibility with a strong sense of duty and commitment to the ideals of the ruling party.

He described the national convention as more than a statutory requirement, calling it a defining moment for reflection, consolidation and renewed commitment to internal democracy and unity.

Masari assured party members that the committee would work closely with the National Working Committee (NWC) and other organs to ensure seamless coordination.

Emphasising discipline, inclusiveness and transparency, the ex-governor warned that personal ambitions must not undermine party unity.

Masari acknowledged key committee members, including former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim; Governor of Kwara State and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who would serve as Secretary; Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, as Treasurer; and Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, as a member.

The APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, who inaugurated the committee, described the event as a significant milestone in the party’s progressive journey.

He cited recent by-election victories in the Federal Capital Territory, Kano and Rivers states as evidence of the party’s strength and growing acceptance, urging committee members to rise above partisan interests and deliver a convention befitting of a ruling party.
