Nasir Idris: Tinubu’s visit to Kebbi affirms FG’s commitment to shared development goals
Nasir Idris, governor of Kebbi, says President Bola Tinubu’s visit to the state affirms the federal government’s commitment to shared development goals with the sub-national.
Tinubu visited Kebbi on Saturday to inaugurate some projects executed by the state government and headline the 61st Argungu International Fishing and Cultural Festival.
In a statement on Saturday, Idris welcomed Tinubu to the state, noting that his visit comes at a time when the Argungu festival is placing the state on the global cultural map, showcasing its rich heritage, unity and potential.
“This visit is a strong affirmation of the Federal Government’s support for Kebbi State and a testament to our shared commitment to development, infrastructure renewal, agricultural transformation, and economic growth,” the governor said
He noted that the inaugurated projects reflect his administration’s resolve to deliver meaningful dividends of democracy to the people through projects that directly impact lives, stimulate commerce and strengthen the development trajectory.
Idris said that the state remains aligned with Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda, adding that his administration would continue to build a stronger and more prosperous future for the people.
Abubakar Usman, a fisherman from Maiyama LGA of the state, won the top prize at the annual cultural event after catching a 59-kilogram fish at the Mata Fada River.
He is expected to go home with two vehicles, a cash prize of N1 million and other items, according to organisers of the event, which dates back to 1934.
The Argungu festival is widely regarded as a symbol of unity and cultural heritage in northern Nigeria, drawing participants from across the country each year.
