Youth Skills, Stronger Nation: NASRDA/Grassroots Bridge Builders (GBB) Champions Empowerment for Nigeria’s Future
The Director General of the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), Dr. Matthew Adepoju, has reaffirmed that youth empowerment through skills acquisition is a critical driver of national transformation. Speaking at the opening of the NASRDA/Grassroots Bridge Builders (GBB) Skills Development Project in Abuja, he emphasized that skills development promotes dignity, innovation and self-reliance beyond job creation.
Represented by the Director of Media and Corporate Communications, Dr. Felix Ale, Dr. Adepoju noted that equipping youths with practical skills aligns with NASRDA’s mandate of leveraging science and technology for socio-economic growth. He added that such initiatives support the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, anchored on empowerment, innovation and inclusive development.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Brigadier General Mohammed Buba Marwa (rtd), urged Nigerian youths to reject drug abuse and embrace skills acquisition as a sustainable path to personal growth and societal contribution. He described skills programmes as effective tools for channeling youthful energy towards productivity and creativity.
In his remarks, the Director General of Grassroots Bridge Builders (GBB), Engr. Ibrahim Moses Igoche, appreciated NASRDA’s support and highlighted the project’s impact in engaging youths in profitable ventures. He called for stronger collaboration among government, private sector and stakeholders, stressing that youth empowerment remains vital for economic stability, crime reduction and national development.
