2027: Taraba Women Launch 1 Million-Vote Campaign for Tinubu, Kefas

Taraba State marked the 2026 International Women’s Day with a combined celebration of women empowerment initiatives and the official launch of the “1 Million Women Vote for Tinubu/Kefas 2027” campaign in the state.

The event, held in Jalingo, brought together women groups, political stakeholders and community leaders, with speakers highlighting the importance of policies aimed at improving the welfare of women and children.

Speaking at the occasion, the Commissioner for Women and Child Development, Mrs. Mary Sinjen JP, described the celebration as a historic opportunity to reaffirm the state government’s commitment to women empowerment and social development.

She said the Taraba State Government was not only celebrating International Women’s Day but also consolidating efforts toward sustaining programmes that promote education, security and economic inclusion for women.

Mrs. Sinjen commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly the National Child Protection Policy and the $50 million Women Export Development Initiative (WEIDE), which she said has expanded opportunities for women entrepreneurs and exporters.

The commissioner also lauded Governor Agbu Kefas for implementing the “Moving Forward Agenda,” citing the introduction of free education and measures aimed at improving community safety as key achievements benefiting families across the state.

She further acknowledged the contributions of the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, and the Taraba State First Lady, Mrs. Agyin Kefas, for their advocacy and interventions targeted at vulnerable women and children.

Mrs. Sinjen urged women across the 16 local government areas of Taraba State to remain united in supporting policies and leadership that prioritise development, stressing that sustained progress requires collective participation.

The highlight of the event was the official unveiling of the “1 Million Women Vote for Tinubu/Kefas 2027” campaign, which organisers said was aimed at mobilising women voters and strengthening political participation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
