Wike Defends Tinubu, NASS On Electronic Transmission Of Election Results

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike says President Bola Tinubu has demonstrated sincerity in strengthening Nigeria’s electoral process.

Wike points to the President’s assent to the Electoral Amendment Bill as evidence of this commitment, accusing critics who are calling for electronic transmission of votes of double standards.

He argues that many of them failed to support the same legislation when they were in power.

Speaking during his first media chat of 2026, the FCT Minister also addressed key national and local issues, including the FCT Area Council elections, party politics, ongoing development projects in the Federal Capital Territory and the evolving political situation in Rivers State.
