2027: Tinubu almost impossible to defeat – APC think-tank member

Ademola Bankole, a member of the All Progressives Congress, APC, think-tank in Lagos and prince of Apa Kingdom, Badagry, says President Bola Tinubu is on course for re-election in 2027.

Speaking to journalists in Lagos, Bankole argued that the APC’s numerical advantage in governorships, Senate, and House of Representatives seats gives the party a strong edge.

“It’s almost impossible for any candidate other than Bola Tinubu to win the 2027 presidential election,” he said.

“I don’t see anything suggesting Peter Obi can defeat him, and Atiku Abubakar has no realistic chance either.”

Bankole gave Tinubu high marks for his performance over the past three years, particularly on security and the economy. He cited improvements in security, economic reforms, the rollout of student loans, and renewed investor confidence.

“Multinational companies now see Nigeria as a safe haven. The exchange rate has almost stabilized, and his economic reform agenda is yielding results,” he said.

He stressed that elections are won through structure, not sentiment.

“Power is not served a la carte. If you cannot build a political structure, don’t go near power. Anyone who wants to be in government must justify their position. Fight to win, but you cannot win when you’re sentimental.”

Bankole drew comparisons with other Nigerian leaders, noting that figures like Atiku Abubakar, Muhammadu Buhari, Goodluck Jonathan, and Tinubu all took different paths to power. He advised Peter Obi to follow Tinubu’s example of building party structures, recalling how Tinubu helped found the Action Congress and broadened its base before seeking higher office.

“Going against the president through alliances won’t work,” Bankole said. “Build your own profile and structure instead.”
