Tinubu has delivered developmental projects in North — RH Ambassadors

President Bola Tinubu has delivered laudable transformational projects in the northern part of the country in line with his campaign promise to the people of the North, the Renewed Hope Ambassador has declared.

Tunde Rahman, Director of Media and Publicity, Renewed Hope Ambassadors, disclosed this in a statement.

His declaration follows claims in some quarters that President Tinubu has not kept his promise to the North.

In a statement issued over the weekend after the conclusion of a media tour of Federal Government projects in the North-West geopolitical zone by the Renewed Hope Ambassadors in collaboration with the Presidential Media Team, the RHA listed various intervention projects at different stages of completion across the six states that make up the North-West zone.

The Director of Media, who maintained that the Tinubu administration has kept faith with the North, pointed out that the Federal Government under the Renewed Hope Agenda embarked on 260 special intervention projects across the country through the Federal Ministry of Works, out of which the North-West zone, comprising Kano, Kaduna, Katsina, Jigawa, Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states, has 48 projects under construction.

“This is the highest among the six geopolitical zones in the country in terms of critical infrastructure intervention projects. This is evidence of President Tinubu’s commitment to the development and transformation of the northern region. These intervention projects will aid transportation, boost trade and agriculture, and foster speedy economic growth,” the RHA said.

During the tour, the team witnessed ongoing construction work on the remodelled Abuja–Kaduna–Kano highway with concrete pavement measuring 20 centimetres in thickness and solar-powered streetlights.

The 82-kilometre Section 1 of the road, handled by Infiouest International Construction Company, stretching from Zuba Junction to just after Jere, is virtually completed, save for about 300 metres, while work on Section 2 has already commenced. The completion period is slated for November this year.

In Kaduna, the delegation inspected the Kaduna Western Bypass, which had been stalled for over 22 years, with work now significantly advanced. The 21-kilometre dual carriageway is about 50 per cent completed, with no funding challenges reported.

The delegation also visited the Kaduna–Kano–Katsina–Maradi (Niger Republic) railway project, described as the most iconic project under construction. The line will connect several states in the North and Niger Republic, facilitating inter-state transport, agriculture and trade.

A flyover bridge under construction in Kaduna for the trans-Sahara railway line is expected to be completed by December 2026.

The Kano end of the Abuja–Kaduna–Kano highway is already about 95 per cent completed. Ongoing projects at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, including the Cardiovascular Centre, Paediatric Centre and students’ hostel, were also highlighted as constituency projects facilitated by the Deputy Senate President, Senator Jibril Barau.

Rahman also disclosed that the delegation inspected the N27 billion irrigation project in Garko, a Federal Government Ecological Fund project, as well as solar energy projects under the Energy Commission of Nigeria and a 10-hectare agricultural incubation centre constructed by the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure at Bayero University, Kano, aimed at advancing modern agricultural innovation.

In Kano, the team also visited the headquarters of the North West Development Commission, an intervention agency established by the Tinubu administration for regional development.

Another ecological project worth N47 billion in the Wujuwuju–Jakara area, initially a Kano State Government initiative, has also been taken over and is being executed by the Federal Government.

In Jigawa, the section of the Kaduna–Kano–Katsina–Maradi railway project is virtually completed.

The Kebbi section of the Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway, covering Phases 2A and 2B from kilometre 120 to 385, is progressing on schedule. Site clearance, filling works, stone base and sub-surface works are ongoing, while concrete pavement construction has covered 19 kilometres, alongside streetlight installation.

The level of completion is estimated at 40 per cent for Section 2A and 16 per cent for Section 2B.

“With these projects among others under construction and at various stages of completion in the North-West and across the entire northern region in just three years of the Tinubu administration, the development of the North is assured,” the statement added.

“Seeing is believing; those alleging that the present government has not been fair to the North in terms of development projects can go round and see for themselves. The Tinubu administration has kept faith with the North. The contrary view is either driven by 2027 politics or opposition politics.”
