Ignore fake APC senatorial candidates list, party tells public
….. Only NWC can announce candidates
The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed as fake a purported list of its senatorial candidates currently circulating on social media and some online platforms, warning party members and the public against relying on unverified information.
In a statement issued in Abuja, the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, said the party’s attention had been drawn to a publication titled “Concluded List of APC Senatorial Candidates So Far,” which he described as false and unauthorized.
“The APC wishes to state that the said list is FAKE, and did not emanate from the Party,” Morka said.
He advised party members, stakeholders, media organisations and the general public to disregard the publication entirely, stressing that it has no official backing from the ruling party.
According to him, only the National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC has the authority to announce candidates who emerge from the party’s primary elections and other constitutionally recognised processes.
“The Party reiterates that only the National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC, acting through its duly authorized channels of communication, is empowered to announce the list of candidates emerging from its primary elections and other constitutionally prescribed processes,” he stated.
Morka further urged party faithful and stakeholders to exercise caution and refrain from sharing information that has not been verified by the party.
“We urge all Party members and stakeholders to refrain from circulating unverified information capable of causing confusion, misleading the public or undermining the integrity of the Party’s democratic processes,” he said.
The APC’s clarification comes amid growing political activities ahead of future electoral contests, with speculation and unofficial reports increasingly circulating across social media platforms.
The party maintained that all official information regarding its candidates and internal electoral processes would be communicated through authorised channels.
