Tinubu Pledges Expanded Opportunities for Youth on Administration’s Third Anniversary

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to expanding economic opportunities for Nigerian youths across high-growth sectors, including technology, manufacturing, agriculture, sports, the creative industries, and entrepreneurship.

Delivering a nationwide address on Friday to commemorate the third anniversary of his administration, the president emphasized that the youth demographic represents the core engine of Nigeria’s future rather than a challenge to be managed. To support this vision, the president stated that the federal government is scaling up investments in digital skills, technical education, innovation, student financing, and enterprise support to position young Nigerians for global competitiveness.

The structured focus on youth empowerment, digital literacy, and technical education carries profound implications for Nigeria’s long-term macroeconomic stability and human capital development. Nigeria possesses one of the youngest populations globally, representing a massive demographic dividend that, if properly harnessed, can accelerate non-oil gross domestic product (GDP) growth and drive industrialization.

Conversely, high youth unemployment and underemployment historically act as drivers of inflation, security vulnerabilities, and capital flight. By building robust institutional frameworks for student financing and enterprise support, the administration aims to stimulate grassroots entrepreneurship, foster retail market liquidity, and reduce the structural dependency on public sector employment.

“To our young people, I want you to know this nation believes in you. You are not a problem to be managed. You are the engine of Nigeria’s future,” President Tinubu declared. He explained that the ongoing fiscal allocations into technical and digital education are deliberate measures designed to ensure that the future of the domestic economy is powered by local talent, creativity, and heightened productivity.

“Across technology, manufacturing, creative industries, agriculture, sports and entrepreneurship, we are expanding opportunities for you to compete and succeed,” he added, highlighting the cross-cutting nature of the government’s economic interventions.

Shifting to broader national development, the president noted that the journey of comprehensive national renewal cannot be fully realized within a single year or a single administration’s tenure. He stressed that sustainable progress requires absolute unity, fiscal discipline, resilience, and a collective commitment from all segments of the citizenry.

Urging Nigerians to reject artificial divisions and embrace long-term nation-building, Tinubu declared that true security and economic prosperity are only attainable when every citizen feels structurally included and valued, regardless of their religious, regional, or social backgrounds. He maintained that Nigeria’s vast diversity must be treated as a source of economic and social strength rather than a fault line for political exploitation.

From a fiscal and investment perspective, the president used the mid-term address to reassure the international community and foreign institutional investors of Nigeria’s unwavering commitment to democratic stability, market-driven economic reforms, and responsible governance.

Over the past three years, the administration has introduced bold monetary and fiscal adjustments aimed at correcting structural distortions, stabilizing the foreign exchange market, and improving the ease of doing business. Reassuring global markets is critical for sustaining inflows of foreign direct investment (FDI), lowering the sovereign risk premium, and attracting foreign capital into major infrastructure, power, and agricultural concessions.

Expressing optimism about the nation’s financial trajectory, President Tinubu asserted that visible signs of economic recovery and renewed investor confidence are beginning to manifest across key sectors. He noted that productivity is improving and opportunities are expanding across agriculture, infrastructure, power, and manufacturing, shifting global perceptions of Nigeria from a nation defined by its challenges to one determined to rise.

Concluding his address, the president commended the sacrifices of Nigerian workers, farmers, professionals, and diaspora citizens, urging the populace to reject cynicism and remain united in the disciplined pursuit of national progress.
