Uzodimma, Imo APC commend aspirants, declare support for President Tinubu
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo State has commended aspirants in the Party’s recently concluded primary elections for their encouraging display of sportsmanship and loyalty following the outcome of the primaries in the State which saw to the successful election of the Party’s standard bearers across various Constituencies in the State.
This is even as the various aspirants who were unsuccessful at the Party primaries declared their unflinching loyalty to the Party, confirming that the Party conducted a free, fair and transparent primary election.
At the expanded stakeholders meeting of the Party , at the newly built Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu International Convention Centre in Owerri, the State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, advised Party members to embrace each other and align with the Party’s decisions with regards to the concluded primary elections, assuring them that the Party’s decision was final and urging those who still feel aggrieved to take the outcome in their strides and work to ensure the Party’s victory in the general elections.
The governor reiterated the need for the State and the Southeast in general to stake their claim in national politics by ensuring that President Bola Tinubu garners massive votes from the State in the coming election, to cement our political bargaining power in national politics.
He praised the President for supporting the vision for the development and prosperity of Imo State, arguing that he couldn’t have recorded the huge infrastructural and social renewal he has recorded in the State without the unalloyed support of the President.
“We must work harder to ensure that President Bola Tinubu gets a huge number of votes from this State in the coming election, as a show of gratitude for his sterling performance and especially, for his goodwill towards the State and the Southeast. It is to the credit of His Excellency President Bola Tinubu that I have changed the face of Imo State for the better.”
The State Chairman of the Party, Chief Austin Onyedebelu showered encomia on the governor for his leadership which ensured the Party’s successful and peaceful conduct of the Party’s primaries and also acknowledged the discipline and loyalty of the Party members before, during and after the Primary Election.
He advised those who might still be hurting from the outcome of the nomination process to accept the outcome of the exercise in good faith, because; “in every political contest, there can only be one winner.” He assured all the aspirants of the Party’s commitment to ensuring that everyone is adequately accommodated in the Party’s programs and activities.
“Now that the primaries have come and gone, I warmly congratulate all those who emerged as candidates of our great Party… To those who were not fortunate this time, I appeal for patience and understanding.”
Various aspirants who participated in the Primaries, ranging from Senatorial, House of Representatives and House of Assembly aspirants, commended the Party leadership for the transparent, fair and credible way the Party primaries were conducted.
Some of the aspirants who spoke at the event include; Chief Longers Anyanwu, Lady Gloria Akobundu, Hon. Ike Kennedy Odoeme, who were aspirants for the Imo North Senatorial ticket of the Party, Dr. Chijioke Kaduru and Hon. Belusochukwu Enwere, who vied for the Imo East Senatorial ticket of the Party. Some unsuccessful House of Assembly and House of Representatives aspirants also congratulated their victorious counterparts in the primaries and assured of their loyalty to the Party.
Prince Alex Mbata, the Senatorial Standard Bearer of the Party for Imo East District and Distinguished Senator Patrick Ndubueze spoke on behalf of successful candidates of the Party, while Prince Lemmy Akakem, Chief Marcellinus Nlemigbo, Barr. Rex Anunobi and Professor Nnamdi Obiaraeri spoke on behalf of leaders of the Party from across the Senatorial Districts.
